Question of the month, June 2011

This is one for the Mormons out there, something which has caused me some puzzlement, for I have not, and have no intention of ever looking at the cover an actual real life Book of Mormon let alone reading it, I am slightly curious as to why, during Joesph Smith's vision, do both God and Jesus appear? You see, I ask this because God and Jesus are one of the same, God IS Jesus and Jesus IS God in man's form. Therefore, why would God appear to a single man in both his forms? I'm not one to question the machinations of the almighty because I can't hope to understand any of God's inner workings nor can any mortal, surely, it would have be perfectly fine and with no less effect if he appeared simply as God? Now, I know this is refutable as I wouldn't think it was impossible for God to assume two forms at once but perhaps if he was appearing to two seperate people in different parts of the country or world then it would be more practical. So yeah, the question is:

Q: Why did BOTH God and Jesus appear to Joesph Smith and not just one or the other?

It is food for thought afterall.
